Welcome to day one of Dimensions! We’ll be working with old-fashioned pen and paper today, but most of the time from tomorrow until the last day, we’ll be working online.
Today, we’ll introduce ourselves, become familiar with the course website, and collect emails and a writing piece from everyone. Here’s the schedule for today:
- getting to know you/us
- what is the Internet
- why is the Internet important
- uses of the Internet
- what’s a server
- html
- ftp
Writing piece – Scott and Maria would like to know your preferences and expectations for the class! Please take ten minutes or so and write out the following information to be handed in before you leave today:
- what experience do you have designing and building websites?
- Have you used Photoshop or WordPress before, and if you have what did you make with these applications?
- do you have a website now? If you do, would you like to share the URL?
- choose five websites you like and five you do not like and list the URL. Beneath each URL, describe what you like or do not like about those websites.
Please write all above questions out on a sheet of paper. Put your name and email address on the top of the paper as we need your name and email to set-up your website for Dimensions.
Welcome to Dimensions 2011 – Web Design!
We’re very much looking forward to getting to know everyone, to seeing what designs and pages you create, and we want to have lots of fun for the two weeks we get to spend together!
Check out the schedule of stuff we’ll be doing below, and if you have other stuff you’d like added – speak up!
